Our temples (our bodies, according to 2 Cor. 6:16), are like His dwelling place of stone which was cleansed, rebuilt, and rededicated by the Maccabees after a miraculous triumph of light over darkness. Today, our bodies, hearts, and minds can get infiltrated, desecrated, and damaged by dark influences, then need to be cleansed, rebuilt, and rededicated. If allowed, the holiday season can threaten to replace the sacred with the profane and dim His radiance through us. If we hunger for His Presence and His Word, He is faithful to tear down our erroneous understanding about His character and plan, lovingly clear the rubble of our dysfunction, and rebuild our new identity, making each day a fresh Day of Dedication.
“What agreement does God’s Temple have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God—just as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” 2 Cor. 6:16 TLV
